The assigned memory is more difficult in the Creed. I have changed is slightly to help out. The students are required to do Memory work numbers 1, 2, 3, 5 instead of 1-8.
When I set up the acolyte schedule, I do not assign any students for Easter morning. This is simply because I don’t know who is in town and who is not. Below are the positions we need to fill by Sunday, April 21. Please send me a text or give me a call if your child can help.
6:00 a.m. Jillian, Natalie and a Crucifer
8:00 a.m. Hunter, Laura and a Crucifer
10:30 a.m. 2 Acolytes and a Crucifer
Part of the responsibilities of being in confirmation is to help with the Easter breakfast. Call the office or sign up at church. We need help with in the following areas:
Easter morning
5:00 a.m. to Cook: 2 Adult Leaders, 3 more youth
7:00 a.m. to serve: 1 more Adult Leader, 4 youth
Following class we will have a pizza party like we did at the beginning of the year. 7th grade students may be picked up around 6:00 p.m. The 8th grade students might be hanging round a bit longer that day.
The oral examination is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1. We will meet for class that day at the normal time. Following class there will be a meal hosted by the Fellowship Board. Following the meal at about 6:00 p.m. we have the examination. The examination is made up of about 60 - 70 questions on information we expect the confirmand to know.
To help prepare for the exam, we give them the questions that they will be asked. This booklet is available for the eighth grade students when they have completed the “Explanation to the First Article” memory work (it is memory work #1 and 2 in the Apostle’s Creed packet). twelve of the thirteen confirmands have the booklet. Once they have the booklet, they can work through the answers. We will review the questions after the confirmation and mentor Pizza supper on Wednesday, April 24.
We encourage the confirmands to dress nicely for the examination. We will be taking their picture that evening to project during the Rite of Confirmation in the worship service.
Alleluia and praise the Lord! We invite the students to be at church by 10:10 so we can pin on their carnation and go through any last-minute details. Following the worship service, we will be taking a group picture of the class.
